In order to capture the volunteer experiences generated by VolunteerSLO and allow for reflection, The Community Center has also developed a “sister” site called Volunteer’dSLO (www.volunteerdslo.org
) where students and other community members can highlight their volunteer experiences. Students can create an account individually or as a club and add multiple “profiles” of their volunteer experiences. For each profile, they can provide a brief description of their community service, photos, and links, as well as indicate how many hours of service were provided and which university learning outcomes were addressed.
One of the benefits of Volunteer’dSLO is that users receive a unique URL for each profile they create. This URL can be included on an electronic resume, e-portfolio, the club or organization’s website, Facebook or in an email. The URL provides students and other users an easy opportunity to share and promote their volunteer experience to others.
Volunteer’dSLO also provides The Community Center with assessment data that can be used to track volunteer experiences taking place in the community. The Community Center reports how many volunteers and volunteer hours are being contributed by clubs, service learning programs, individual students, and university centers. It can also track which university learning objectives are being achieved.
